Finally, the color catchers are coming out light pink instead of red. So one wash may not be enough. And this was supposedly quality, quilt shop fabric.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2144625015076186871.post-59180820552543571442021-09-28T08:34:30.668-07:002021-09-28T08:34:30.668-07:00Jillian, I would start with the color catchers, wh...Jillian, I would start with the color catchers, which was used in the story above by Sue from Maine (among others.) The unanswered question about the color catchers is whether you then need to use them in all future washings! I would try the Dawn 2nd, if the color catchers don't work. My last attempt would be the Synthrapol, just because it is a strong chemical and may lighten the quilt. The advantage of Synthrapol is that the piece won't bleed any more (in theory), whereas the other treatments may not offer permanent dye-setting. Please keep me posted as to what happens. I need to wash it (it STINKS) and im terrified of all that red bleeding onto the other colored pieces, white backing & white bound border. I purchased synthrapol, have a giant bottle of traditional blue dawn and a box of color catchers - would love anyone's advice on the best approach (ideally, just a one and done approach!!). thank you in advance!!Jillianhttp://www.jilliep.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2144625015076186871.post-49962930149691443232019-08-04T20:01:45.155-07:002019-08-04T20:01:45.155-07:00Don't give up! It's always with something in the red family or the dark blue family. Wouldn't it be nice if the quilt stores could afford to cut us a tiny swatch to test on the spot - it just takes a minute or two to find out if it runs. Batiks are such a joy to work with - don't swear them off! <br />Cathy Perlmutterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02366874497046582056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2144625015076186871.post-88006964962565616542016-02-16T23:24:24.671-08:002016-02-16T23:24:24.671-08:00Every time I read these stories I feel less inclin...Every time I read these stories I feel less inclined to ever sew with batiks or hand-dyed fabrics!Granny Maud's Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14526026491886013457noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2144625015076186871.post-35369625293521285582016-02-15T07:56:57.817-08:002016-02-15T07:56:57.817-08:00Thank you, Elizabeth!
